How You’ll Make an Impact

The Senior Vice President, Chief Brand Officer (CBO) is an executive leader accountable for driving the growth, value, and integrity of the Valvoline brand across global markets. As the steward of brand equity, the CBO oversees brand strategy, corporate communications, customer experience, and global marketing alignment to enhance awareness, engagement, and loyalty. This role ensures brand consistency across all channels and touchpoints while delivering measurable business results in support of the company’s long-term objectives.

 

As  Chief Brand Officer , you will shape the face and future of an iconic brand in a pivotal era of transformation. Your leadership will ensure Valvoline stands for innovation, customer centricity, and growth—globally recognized as the most trusted name in premium lubricants.

 

Responsibilities Include

1. Brand Strategy & Vision

  • Define and lead the enterprise brand strategy aligned to corporate mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement global brand architecture, messaging, and positioning frameworks.

2. Brand Management

  • Govern brand voice, identity, and design across digital and physical assets.
  • Serve as lead brand ambassador with Valvoline Retail Services to drive global brand expansion.
  • Oversee agency partnerships for creative, media, and sponsorship.

3. Marketing & Communications Alignment

  • Lead Global Marketing Council to ensure consistent, goal-aligned campaigns across business units.
  • Guide storytelling and content strategy across channels to reinforce brand purpose.
  • Oversee global and regional media investments tied to strategic corporate OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measures).

 

4. Customer Experience & Engagement

  • Lead global CX strategy, including Unified Premium Experience (UPX) design and deployment.
  • Integrate CX insights with product, sales, and service teams for seamless brand experiences.

 

5. Innovation & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and lead strategic brand partnerships and innovation opportunities.
  • Lead brand architecture and identity efforts for acquisitions and market entries.

 

6. Internal Branding & Culture

  • Champion employee brand engagement and internal communications.
  • Develop internal brand training programs for global rollout.

 

7. Executive Leadership & Governance

  • Operate under a hub-and-spoke governance model to provide global standards and enable regional activation.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to embed brand into strategic planning and growth initiatives.

 

What You’ll Need

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in global brand management, marketing, or communications, including 5+ years in senior executive roles.
  • Proven success in building and evolving global brands in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Deep understanding of brand equity, integrated marketing, customer experience, and content strategy.
  • Experience managing global agency relationships and large-scale media investments.
  • Track record of translating brand strategies into measurable business outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required ; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred .
